G4OIA - I used to be pretty active in the eighties, making a lot of homebru cw QRP gear and was secretary of Southdown ARS when I still lived in Eastbourne. I subsequently moved to Cornwall and real life got in the way; my rigs ended up unused in a damp garden shed and slowly rusted. Time passed…
Now retired, with time on my hands, I thought I’d get back into AR: Got myself a lovely little Xiegu G90 SDR rig (I can hardly believe how much a waterfall display helps - I used to spend all my time feverishly tuning up and down the bands, in the forlorn hope that I’d luck-in to a transmission; nowadays you get a great visual of activity).
My cw speed had deteriorated badly, so I spent a lot of time haunting YouTube videos and cw websites to get back up to speed. It’s been hard graft, but I’m about there now - the chief issue is that I now seem completely unable to copy slow-speed Morse; I’m fine at 20+ wpm - but anything below about 15 is like a foreign language, and the slower the speed, the worse I seem to get. It’s an unusual problem, which I really hope rectifies itself over time.
I joined this site to post about this particular issue, hoping someone can offer advice.
