What I observe is slowness, for example when I launch an application. I observe freezes when I use certain applications like App Center asking to force quit or a fresh install of Eclipse 2024.12 keeps crashing when I happen to use the Eclipse Marketplace. I also observe some weird behavior with Networks.
I expect this laptop to be more reactive since it's new and good specs compared to what I am used to with previous Ubuntu experience.
I open this issue to help troubleshoot these because it's weird to me this happens a few days after a fresh install and a few modifications to my installation. I will add more specifics as I encounter them. I've turned on and off parameters in the Settings app, for example in the Accessibility category. I installed a few packages, and upgraded packages with apt. I have also tweaked the BIOS which I am not entirely used to.
My a priori guess is that conflicting packages are the source of this slowness and freezing. Another lead could be related to kernel mismatch with the hardware or something entirely different.

Always according to ChatGPT I will switch to X11 temporarily using this method.
Among others :
sudo apt install intel-media-va-driver-non-free
# Confirm hardware acceleration
vainfo
# Disable Gnome extension
gnome-extensions disable --all
To check boot performance issue :
systemd-analyze blame
5min 46.561s snapd.service
12.471s apport-autoreport.service
9.926s NetworkManager-wait-online.service
5.691s dev-loop16.device
2.102s plymouth-quit-wait.service
1.085s fwupd-refresh.service
1.026s fwupd.service
And finally run a comprehensive diagnostic tool like hardinfo or inxi:
sudo apt install inxi
inxi -Fxz
Which produces the following output :
